A hammer crimper is a simple but effective tool for crimping large-gauge lugs onto heavy wires found in off grid solar installations.
 
While many people already have some kind of wire crimper in their tool box, very few have a crimper that can handle the 3/0 lugs that are required for large inverters, and making a secure crimp is absolutely critical for those high-power connections, ESPECIALLY in mobile applications with lots of vibration.
 
Hammer crimpers are slower to use than compound or hydraulic crimpers, but they are perfect if you only have to crimp a few connections, so we recommend adding a hammer crimper to your kit if you don't already have one, so you can make your connections securely and safely.
